Rune kiteshield

“A large metal shield.”

About this item

The Rune kiteshield is the second best smithable kiteshield, surpassed only by the Dragon kiteshield. The rune kiteshield requires 40 Defence to wield. A player with 97 Smithing can make the shield by using three runite bars and a hammer on an anvil, granting 225 Smithing experience. The rune kiteshield is often used as a tank shield by low-risk and void rangers; despite the negative ranged attack bonus, it is much cheaper, and provides a substantial melee defence bonus, which the Odium ward lacks.

Measured with medians rather than averages, because one spike — an update, a streamer, a brief squeeze — drags an average around for weeks afterwards and makes everything since look ordinary.
